A quick update on 2017 boating

A few folks have already had their boats in the water, but high winds are mostly wiping out the advantages of unusually warm weather.

Your fishing license is good until April 1, and you can buy a new one online at this link.

Boyd Lake is open for the season, with boat ramps open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.  It appears there won't be any new fees assessed for invasive species inspection in Colorado, but that probably won't be the case for long.  If you take your boat to Wyoming and now Nebraska, an annual one-time fee is assessed.

Horsetooth and Carter open April 1.  Here's the inspection and launch schedule.  Remember, at these lakes you can only launch during these hours, but you can remain on the lake after hours.

Good luck, and wear your darned life preserver.
