Dale D. Owens
11/19/1942 - 9/3/2014
Dale D. Owens, Loveland resident, died Sept 3 2014 while pursuing his passion of fishing. Dale was born November 19, 1942 in Imperial, Nebraska to Orval and Edith Owens and he grew up in Madrid, NE. After high school he joined the Navy and served during Vietnam at Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago as a pharmacy technician. After an honorable discharge, he attended college in McCook NE. He married and divorced. He moved to Colorado in 1970 and lived in Greeley until he settled in Pierce, Co for almost 30 years.

In 1998 he met Mallorie and they married in 2000. He lived with Mallorie, his dog Charmin and cat Sushi in Loveland. Dale drove a bus for Greyhound for 15 years before he started his own construction/septic business in Pierce,  Colorado. Many friends from that area relied on his hard work, honesty and giving nature. He retired after bypass surgery in 2002.

When Dale was interested in something, he took it up with a passion until he became an expert. He loved bowling and belonged to three senior leagues.  He was a member of the Loveland Fishing Club.

Dale was a Nebraska Cornhuskers fan, enjoyed playing poker with his friends and "up the hill" in Blackhawk, and was always ready for a lively discussion about his liberal political leanings. With Mallorie, they took up new hobbies such as Geocaching, where he reached his goal finding them in all 50 states and many in Europe, Canada, the Caribbean, and Morocco. Together they found over 2600 geocaches and created numerous for others to enjoy. He would spend hours creating unique containers for the caches.

Mallorie and Dale followed the Professional Bull Riders, UNC Bears football games, and took
many long fall car trips, cruises and travel to places far and wide.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Edward Owens, sister, Barbara Ann Owens and stepson, Mark Story. He is survived by his wife, Mallorie, his stepdaughter, Megan Nyce, step-son in law, Erik Nyce and their 6 year old daughter, Hazel, who was a true joy in his life. He is also survived by a sister, Delores Holler, and a sister, Betsy and her husband, Paul Soler, nephew and niece, Dwight and Lori Gardner, an aunt and uncle, Max and Bernice Roe, and numerous cousins.

At his request, he was cremated and no formal services will be held. His family will greet friends and share memories with those who care to stop by his home on Saturday, September 20th from 2 to 4 pm. There are no memorials but a donation can be made to any charity of choice.
